CHILD SAFETY & PROTECTION POLICY

Owl House Children's Sanctuary is committed to the safety of every child in our care. This page summarizes the safeguards in our full Abuse Prevention & Response Policy available on request.

• All staff and regular volunteers age 13 and older complete Idaho DHW background clearance before working with children.

• We follow the three-person rule: no staff member or volunteer is alone with a single child, except briefly at opening and closing, when the first child dropped off or the last child picked up is momentarily with one background-cleared staff member before others arrive or after they've left.

• Staff complete abuse-recognition training at hire and annually, and any suspicion — from a parent, a peer, or a child — is reported immediately to the Executive Director and, when warranted, Idaho Child Protective Services.

• All Owl House personnel are mandatory reporters under Idaho law. Any allegation of abuse by staff results in immediate administrative leave pending investigation, with civil and criminal prosecution pursued to the fullest extent of the law where warranted.

• Corporal punishment and any form of physical or mental abuse are strictly prohibited, as detailed in our Discipline Policy.
