AGREEMENTS & CONSENTS

This form covers the agreements and consents required to enroll your child at Owl House. Each item is explained further in the Owl House Parent Handbook.

Handbook Acknowledgment

I have received and read the Owl House Parent Handbook and agree to follow its policies on daily schedule, tuition and billing, health and wellness, safety, and discipline.

Photo Privacy Agreement

Owl House shares photos of our days together through Brightwheel and Google Photos. To protect every child's privacy, I agree to:

  • Keep Owl House photos for my family's personal use.

  • Get permission from another family before posting a photo that includes their child publicly (social media, blogs, websites).

Screen Time Agreement

Early childhood research supports very limited screen time (TV, phones, tablets, computers, video games) until a child reads well. I'll aim to keep my child's screen time at home to 2 hours or less per week starting at age 21⁄2, and none before that, and share this expectation with others who care for my child.

Homeopathic Remedy Consent

Owl House believes any care given to a child should be known and approved ahead of time. Homeopathic remedies — most often Arnica — are considered safe for everyone, including infants, with no known harmful side effects. More information is available on request.

I give permission for Owl House staff to give my child homeopathic Arnica, or other occasionally indicated homeopathic remedies, for minor bumps, bruises, cuts, scrapes, stings, runny noses, or coughs.

Community Wellness Spreadsheet

To help families track contagious illness moving through the group, Owl House keeps an anonymous wellness log listing only symptoms and the date reported — never a child's name. Entries marked (@OH) indicate the child was at Owl House on the day symptoms appeared.

If my child has symptoms, I'll text Asia so the log stays current and other families can be alerted the same day. I can note a symptom “confidential” to keep it off the shared log.

Topical Product Authorization

Idaho childcare licensing rules require written parent authorization before staff can apply nonprescription topical products. I authorize Owl House staff to apply the following to my child as needed, using Owl House's products unless I provide my own:

  • Sunscreen

  • Diaper cream

  • Insect repellent

    This authorization covers my child's full enrollment at Owl House, with no annual renewal needed. I'll let Owl House know of any allergy or brand preference.

Release of Liability — Adventurous Play

Owl House believes adventurous play — climbing, riding strider bikes, jumping from low walls, and our child-sized zipline — is an important part of independent play.

I give consent for my child to take part in these activities, understanding they carry a risk of personal injury or property damage. In exchange for my child's participation, I assume that risk, except for injury or damage caused by intentional conduct or recklessness by Owl House or its staff, employees, or agents.

I release, waive, and forever discharge Owl House, its staff, employees, and agents from liability, and hold them harmless, for any personal injury or property damage to my child — except for injury or damage caused by intentional conduct or recklessness by Owl House or its staff, employees, or agents.

Medical & Emergency Treatment Consent

Owl House staff hold current Infant and Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification.

Routine first aid – I authorize Owl House staff to give my child basic first aid — cleaning and bandaging minor cuts and scrapes, applying a cold pack, and removing splinters or ticks. Minor injuries are logged in Brightwheel; for anything concerning, we'll call or text you.

Emergency care – If my child needs urgent medical attention and I can't be reached, I authorize Owl House staff to call 911, arrange emergency medical or dental treatment, and allow ambulance transport to the hospital or clinic listed on my child's Application, or the nearest facility if needed. I authorize the treating provider to give my child the care they judge necessary, and Owl House will reach me and my emergency contacts as soon as possible.

Prescription medication – Owl House staff will give prescription medication when it arrives in its original, pharmacy-labeled container with my written instructions for dose, timing, route, and duration, and is handed directly to a staff member. A child carrying an EpiPen or rescue inhaler needs a written action plan from their provider on file before their first day.

Health information – My child's allergies, dietary restrictions, medications, doctor, hospital/clinic preference, and insurance information are complete on the Owl House Application, and I'll keep them updated. I'm responsible for the cost of any emergency care, treatment, or transport.

Owl House is not a medical provider. This consent covers care in an emergency and does not replace your child's regular medical care.

Resident Dog Acknowledgment

Owl House is home to a large mixed-breed dog who is part of daily life here. Staff supervise children's time with her, introduce her gradually, and teach children how to approach and read a dog respectfully. She has her own space to retreat to when she wants.

Even a gentle, familiar dog is still an animal, and could jump, scratch, or nip if startled or crowded. Our general liability insurance excludes injury caused by any animal, so we want you to know that plainly before your child's first day.

I acknowledge that a resident dog lives at Owl House, and I've shared any allergy, sensitivity, or fear of dogs my child has. Except for injury caused by intentional conduct or recklessness by Owl House or its staff, I accept this risk and release Owl House, its staff, employees, and agents from liability for any injury to my child caused by the resident dog.

Routine Neighborhood Walks

Owl House sometimes includes short neighborhood walks — by balance bike with helmet, stroller, front pack, or on foot — as part of daily programming, staying within Hailey's east side. These are routine daily programming, not field trips, so no separate permission slip is needed for each walk. If Owl House ever plans an outing beyond this routine area, I'll be asked to sign a separate permission form for that specific trip.

I give consent for my child to take part in routine neighborhood walks as described above.
